Linda's Story

I was 44 when i was diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember the feeling of disbelief and fear which enveloped me. Thankfully family and friends surrounded me with love , assurance and support. I would need every bit of it as I faced several months of chemotherapy followed by a radical double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery It was of course traumatic and many times I had to dig deep to overcome the sadness.

Still it’s amazing what we can endure when fighting for our lives. You will find strength and courage you never dreamed you were capable of. The following year, feeling much stronger and wanting to give back to our Breast Cancer community by raising funds I took part in a 5k along with my husband and daughter and was thrilled to be the first Survivor over the finish line. Take THAT cancer!

In the years since my diagnosis I have have spoken with many brave women facing this challenging time in their lives and have offered up my story as something hopeful for them to hold onto. Each one a fighter, a warrior sister. I'm thankful you have come to this site because we as a community are so much stronger than any disease.
